Quang's videorecipe:
I LOVE Quang Tran's youtube videos. In fact, I've probably seen more of them than I should have. This was my first attempt making one of his recipes, and I must say that he's a great teacher. His, descriptions, while far from fancy, are perfect. My first attempt at bread making (the pita from this recipe) came out really well. The gyro meat was arguably the best thing I've ever cooked, and the tzatziki was pretty good (would've been great if I had the right type of yogurt - Greek). I cant say that you should go out and make all 3 components of this dish, gyro, pita, and tzatziki, but I can say if you use store-bought pita and tzatziki and just make the gyro, you won't be disappointed. For me, I left my gyro in the oven for 50 minutes at 400º F like he said, then kept it there while it cooled. I was rewarded with what I would call perfectly cooked gyro. This is definitely a highlight of my cooking career.
